The Certification Process
  1. APPLY: Companies must apply to be certified.
  2. SAMPLE: A random sample of typically 400 past customers is pulled from all customer files of the applicant company.
  3. SURVEY: A confidential telephone survey captures the customer satisfaction score based on quality.
  4. TABULATION: The quality score is tabulated. To qualify, the company must score a very high 90 on a 100 scale.
  5. CREDENTIALS: The applicant company’s credentials are independently rated (license, insurance, complaint status and credit for contractors).
  6. PRACTICES: The company’s business practices are verified as "customer friendly"? It must stand behind its performance.
  7. AGREEMENT: The Company agrees to adhere to the Diamond Certified Customer Satisfaction Principles.
  8. AWARD: If quality rating, credential rating and business practices qualify, the company is awarded Diamond Certified.

The Rating
The survey consists of four simple questions that can be completed in a few minutes. The survey is confidential and in no way can the survey results be attributed to those that have taken the survey.

Question #1: "On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being very satisfied and 1 being very dissatisfied, how satisfied were you with the quality that you most recently received from San Ramon Valley Import Center?

Question #2: "If you needed auto diagnostic services again would you use or recommend San Ramon Valley Import Center?

Question #3: " What did you like best about your experience with San Ramon Valley Import Center?"

Question #4: " What area do you think San Ramon Valley Import Center should improve?"


The level a company must achieve in order to be certified is a rating score of 90 or above on a scale of 100. Most companies cannot pass the rating. Diamond Certified Companies represent the highest level in customer satisfaction.
Many have asked for the specific rating of a company – Our goal is to identify for you those companies that provide the highest quality work as judged by their own customers. We use a methodologically that assures a reliable result and continue customer satisfaction research every quarter thereafter to ensure each Diamond Certified company continues to perform for their customers. You are assured that all of the companies that earn Diamond Certified have scored in the highest level of quality. So, for example, if one plumber scores a 91.6 customer satisfaction rating and another scores a 94.2 the difference is not statistically significant. Both are top ranked and far surpass the non-qualifying plumber who received a 74.6. A bell curve illustrates the relative position of Diamond Certified companies versus others within their field.

Only those plumbers that score on the far right side of this bell curve can earn Diamond Certified. Thus, if you choose a Diamond Certified company, you will most likely be happy with the resulting work.

Each company who goes through the rating process pays a fee to American Ratings pass or fail. All companies that qualify and earn Diamond Certified pay another fee which allows us to continue to police the use of Diamond Certified, continue ongoing customer satisfaction research, provide mediation services if needed and educate the public.

Only companies rated highest in quality earn Diamond Certified. In addition, we limit the number of companies participating by industry so that while there are enough companies displayed to provide you with choice, the limited number allows us to closely monitor these companies to assure your satisfaction.

The Diamond Certified Money Back Guarantee
If you used a Diamond Certified company and were not satisfied and tried unsuccessfully to resolve the dispute please contact us at 800.738.1138. We will contact the company on your behalf and work to mediate a solution. If we are unable to get a fair resolution and we determine that the company was at fault, we will refund to you up to the purchase price with a maximum limit of $1,000.

To qualify for this guarantee the customer:
1. Must have made the purchase from a Diamond Certified company on a date when the company was validly certified and displaying Diamond Certified (not prior to the company having earned it, or after having lost its certification).

2. Must make a claim for this guarantee within 6 months of the qualified purchase.

3. Must have participated in Diamond Certified mediation in an attempt to resolve the dispute.
