MINI Repair San Ramon
The Mini Cooper came about because of a fuel shortage caused by the 1956 Suez Crisis. Petrol was once again rationed in the UK, sales of large cars slumped, and the market for German "Bubble cars", like the Volkswagen, boomed. Leonard Lord, the head of British Motor Corporation, reportedly detested these German import cars so much that he vowed to rid the streets of them and design a "proper miniature car". The result was the Mini, first released in 1959 - a car that would become an instant hit, a cultural icon and a spiffy fashion accessory in the years to come. Ironically, in 2001, German-based BMW would purchase the Mini brand and launch the newly designed models we often see zipping around on today's highways.
