CA State Certified Smog Inspection Station
As most of you know, you are required to have a Smog Inspection, or Smog Check performed on your vehicle every other year to re-register your vehicle with DMV, unless your vehicle is 4 years or newer. You are also required to have a Smog Inspection performed on the vehicle you sell.
The current Smog inspection program requires Smog Inspection Stations to have a set of BAR certified equipment, including a gas analyzer, a dynamometer and a evaporation system testing machine. A Smog Inspection consists of visual inspection, emission sampling while the engine is under simulated driving condition and emission control system functional test. If a vehicle fails the Smog Inspection, a diagnostic procedure should be performed to uncover the cause of the failure in order to correctly repair the vehicle.
The State of California requires DMV to direct certain cars and trucks to “Test Only” Smog Inspection Stations. The Test Only stations are not allowed to perform any emission related diagnostics and repairs. Without the conflict of interests, Test Only stations tend to produce more realistic data, which will help us to fine tune the Smog Program. Look at the DMV’s notice of renewal to find out if your car is required to be tested at a test only station.
Valley Import Center is a Test and Repair station, which means we are authorized by the state to perform smog test and also emission related repairs.
The smog program has been helping us to have cleaner air with continuously increasing car count. It is hard to imagine what would our air be without it. We are proud to be part of the program to keep our customer’s cars running clean at all times.
